Using the trim trail

Fun in the ball pool

To play in our ball pool the children have to be able to take off their shoes, then put them back on afterwards, all by themselves. It has been a great incentive for pupils to learn how to put on their own shoes and parents have been very supportive by providing velco fastening shoes.

Playing outside

Our nursery children are given constant access to the outside play areas.
We encourage the children to take part in physical activity to keep them fit and healthy.

We also provide a range of outdoor sensory experiences.

Nursery Rhymes

The nursery children have been learning new nursery rhymes.

Old Mother Hubord went to the cupborad to get her poor dog a bone. When she got there the cupboard was bare and so the poor dog had none.

The children were very worried so they fed him. They built the dog a kennel. They made warm dog baskets.
Finally they named him Spot and took him to the vet to check he was ok.

London Bridge is falling down

We have been learning the nursery rhyme - London Bridge is falling down.

London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down.
London Bridge is falling down, my fair lady.

Build it up with sticks and stones, sticks and stones, sticks and stones.
Build it up with sticks and stones, my fair lady.

Sticks and stones will wash away, wash away, wash away.
Sticks and stones will wash away, my fair lady.

Build it up with iron and steel, iron and steel, iron and steel.
Build it up with iron and steel, my fair lady.

Iron and steel will bend and bow, bend and bow, bend and bow.
Iron and steel will bend and bow, my fair lady.

Build it up with bricks and mortar, bricks and mortar, bricks and mortar.
Build it up with bricks and mortar, my fair lady.

It will last forever more, ever more, ever more.
It will last forever more, my fair lady.

We looked at pictures of London and London bridge. The children decided to become builders and had a go at designing and making their own bridges.

The Queen of Hearts.

This week we have been learning the nursery rhyme - The Queen of Hearts.

The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
all on a summers day.
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts
and took them right away.

First we made real jam tarts. Then we opened a cake shop where the children produced their own cakes, tarts and biscuits using play dough, and sold them to their friends.

Nursery open day

On Thursday 11th February we invited parents to join their children at nursery. It gave them the opportunity to see first hand our nursery routines and the high levels of independence we expect from the children.
Parents enjoyed playing with their children in the setting and found the experience very worthwhile.

We plan to run another open day in the summer term. Dates will be confirmed nearer the time.

Fun in the snow.

The nursery garden looks very different when it is covered in snow. We made sure that we were all wrapped up well to keep warm and wearing our wellies to keep our feet dry. Then played in the snow making patterns with our feet, rolling snowballs and shaking snow out of the trees.
